In an exclusive interview with Daniel Mullen, Athletic Director at Warhill High School, we gained valuable insights into the highs, challenges, and defining moments that shape his role.
As a seasoned Athletic Director with 17 years of experience, Mullen shared his perspective on the most rewarding aspect of his career: “It’s a great job. You get to watch kids participate in high school sports, practices, you see them succeed, so I think it’s being a part of that. It’s not directly working with the student-athletes, but it’s working for them, with our coaches, we’ve developed them, so they have a great experience.”
Transitioning from traditional methods, Mullen highlighted the challenges they aimed to address with rSchoolToday: “Well, we were a lot like everybody else, we were a lot of pen and paper. So we want to switch more to online registration, get rid of the excess paper that we’re using for registration. It would make it easier for students and staff to register for athletics. Plus with rSchool, they can see all the schedules, all the games, all the classes and stuff. So we’ve got to move on into the digital area.”
Speaking about the impact of rSchoolToday on his job, Mullen emphasized the gift of time: “Time. I think we have more time to focus on more of the students, more of the coaches, more of the entire program. So the registration just gave us a little bit more time to put somewhere else.”
Reflecting on his favorite moment in his role, Mullen shared a personal sentiment: “It’s more of a personal moment for me, all three of my daughters went to the same school. If they were at another school, I wouldn’t be able to see them compete and play. So being part of that throughout their four-year time in school, I think that was the moment and the time that I valued the most.”
