Ludlow (MA) Freshman Swimmer Aaron Turgeon Takes Aim at School Records
This week, the team at ludlowathletics.org profiled one of the school’s brightest young swim prospects, freshman Aaron Turgeon.
At 5’7″, 148 lbs, Turgeon had been the first swimmer from Ludlow High School’s swim team to qualify for the Western-Central regional meet in an individual event, doing so at the first meet of the season.
“Aaron’s biggest strength is his stubborn determination,” says Pennington, “he doesn’t, and will not give up. He wants to succeed.”

Desert Mirage (CA) Boys Soccer Ties So-Cal Record for Most Consecutive League Wins
With their 1-0 victory Wednesday over the Rancho Mirage Rattlers, the Desert Mirage Rams boys soccer team won their 32nd-consecutive CIF Southern Section league game, tying the record and continuing their ascent up the state-wide rankings. Tonight, they play Desert Hot Springs High School for a chance to break it.

This week in a sold-out matchup of Georgia boys basketball powerhouses, Gainesville (GA), ranked #1 in Georgia’s 6A division, edged out Buford high school, ranked #1 in 5A, 83-81.
After the game, gainesvilleredelephantathletics.com interviewed Kajuan Hale, who had 22 points, 13 of which came in the final quarter and propelled the Red Elephants to the win.
Texas Tech contingent including head coach Kliff Kingsbury pays visit to Hitchcock (TX) defensive end John Scott
A 3-star 6’4 defensive end for the Hitchcock Bulldogs, John Scott has been heavily recruited during the past couple of seasons. With National Signing Day around the corner, this past week, he was visited by Texas Tech Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury and Defensive Line Coach Terrance Jamison at school. Scott is expected to sign with the Red Raiders.
Seton Catholic Prep (WA) beats Kings Way 65-64 to End Six Year Basketball Drought
Six years ago on January 17th, Seton Catholic Guard DK Lee hit a runner from mid court to give the Seton Catholic Boys Basketball Team it’s first win ever over King’s Way. Since then, the rivalry match-up has been all famine for the Cougars, who haven’t won since.
That all changed last week, with Isaiah Parker’s driving lay up with 2.1 seconds to go to give Seton it’s first lead since the start of the first quarter, and first win in six years over the Knights.
Hammond-Clark (IN) Junior Daniel Mora-Diaz wins GLAC 126 lb Conference Championship
Last Thursday, the Hammond-Clark Pioneer wrestling team competed in the Great Lakes Athletics Conference Tournament at Morton HS, with junior. Daniel Mora-Diaz capturing the only conference title for the Pioneers at the 126 lb weight class, but if the video above is any indication, he did so with authority. Lakota West Girls Basketball (OH) Cracks the ESPNw Top 25 Power Rankings
Lead by Notre Dame recruit Abby Prohaska, the Lakota West Firebirds have won 12 straight since a season-opening loss to Hamilton Heights Christian, putting them at #25 in the country on the ESPNw Women’s Basketball Power Rankings.
This year’s team is the third squad in school history to make the list, including the 2007-08 Ohio D-1 State Runner-up team (who attained a final ranking of 25th) and the 2014-15 Ohio D-1 State Championship team (who had a final national ranking of 26th).

Northmont (OH) Junior Flynn Roberts breaks school record in the mile
At the Southwest Coaches Classic on Sunday, Northmont Thunderbolt Junior Fynn Roberts broke her second school record of her high school career – beating the previous mile record by over 20 seconds with a time of 19:43.20.
Mishawaka Cavemen (IN) rain threes at Jimtown High School
Hoping to stop a 5-game losing streak, the Mishawaka Cavemen Girls Basketball team came back from a 32-10 deficit in the first quarter to stymie the Maroons, and win 70-38 behind junior Ary Shelton’s career-high 33 points coming from 11 three-pointers.
Belton Lady Tiger (TX) Powerlifting Impresses at Midway Competition
With an young roster, the Belton (TX) Lady Tigers beat expectations, taking home 2nd place hardware at the Midway competition this week. The girls were powered by newcomers who finished first in their weight class; Jade Crowell (105), Jaci Cauble (123), and Jerece Justice (259).
Lakeshore Lancers (MI) win 99th wrestling invitational title, giving Bittenbender his 900th career victory
With their 5-0 sweep of the West Ottawa Invite, Stevensville Lakeshore (MI) took home their 99th wrestling invitational title, but the night went to Lancer coach Bittenbender, who took home his 900th career win in 48 years of coaching. At the meet, Bittenbender’s wrestlers bested three other teams battling for league titles, including a mentor vs. mentee showdown with Rockford, whose coach Brian Richardson, was a former Lakeshore Lancer graduate and wrestler himself.
1933 Boys Basketball Team to be inducted into Kent City (MI) Hall of Fame
Since its inception, the Kent City Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has chosen 18 individuals and one team to cement their place in Kent City Athletics’ history. On February 2, this illustrious group will welcome new members from the 1933 Michigan Class D State Runner-Up team. The team, lead by coach C.B. Leaver, won 39 of 42 games played in two years (1932-1933), and upset state title favorites Stevensville in the state regionals, only falling short of the state title by one point in overtime.
