VNN and Rapid Replay Sign Video Partnership
Edward Hardaway’s 2nd-inning, 2 RBI single was the beginning of the end at Northmont High School last Saturday. The hit, which scored two runs, broke open the game for the Thunderbolts, who began rolling to an 18-4 win against the Greenville Green Wave. In previous years, beyond those sitting in the bleachers, word of Northmont’s outstanding performance might not spread beyond the field. But this season, through the efforts of Assistant Athletic Director Jim Smith, video highlights from the game were made available within the hour on the school’s official athletics website, northmontathletics.com, taking advantage of a unique partnership of technology companies which was announced today.
The collaboration, between Seattle’s Rapid Replay and VNN, connects Rapid Replay’s powerful video technology with VNN’s network of high school athletic department properties, creating a centralized system for capturing and distributing user-generated video content to 10% of US high school sports communities. During a game, fans, coaches, and administrators are now able to document game moments from within the Rapid Replay app, which are automatically shared to their team’s timeline, and pushed immediately to dedicated video players promoted on the school’s official athletics website and social media channels provided by VNN. The integration makes publicizing performances and athletes from every sport achievable without extra work, a major benefit for Jim Smith and Northmont, one of VNN’s top schools, who have been using the app for months:
“We make it a point to ensure all our athletes have the same opportunities,” said Smith. “Our teams and the Athletic Department want to be on the cutting edge of technology, because it benefits the kids who are now able to be recognized for all the great things they’re doing in ways they couldn’t before.”

VNN and BoxOut Sports Sign National Partnership
One of Texas’ most storied football programs, Temple High School’s athletic department consists of four people; Scott Stewart, the athletic director and head football coach, Claudia Hernandez, the athletic secretary, Steve Prentiss, the assistant athletic director, and Mike Lefner, the site administrator. Between the four, they’re constantly managing game schedules, fundraising, capital improvements, officials, concessions, eligibility, petty cash, discipline, and any number of seemingly-minor tasks that go into ensuring game day is smooth for everyone across the high school’s 22 sports programs.
The team also has another major responsibility, promoting all those sports programs to the local community. Time-strapped as they are, Stewart, Hernandex, Prentiss, and Lefner have excelled with what they have. Their Wildcats have built an online presence that boasts nearly three million pageviews each year on their official athletics website, wildcatstrong.com, and thousands of fans following the school on social media. But as their audience grows, getting to the next level means more; more content, more often, and more time, which high school athletic administrators, including Temple’s team, don’t have. Today’s announcement between BoxOut Sports and VNN aims to change that reality through an integration that brings the collegiate leader in automated sports graphics solutions to largest network of high school athletic departments in US.
Long outsourced to specialized graphic designers, the team at BoxOut Sports has made their name by building software that automates the process of creating video and still graphics with a few clicks of the mouse. A favorite of sports information directors at major universities including Notre Dame and Ohio State, the partnership integrates the power of VNN’s database of information from 10% of the nation’s high schools to fundamentally disrupt how high school athletic departments approach online content, giving athletic directors the tools to engage with their community in less time than ever before. The integration is already being embraced by high schools, with 65 of VNN’s schools signing-up for the service pre-release, including Temple HS.
“We’ve got the most passionate fans in the country,” said Mike Lefner, Site Administrator of Temple High School. “While we’ve always been committed to promoting our teams and their achievements online, this software makes everything better, from pre-game promotion to athlete spotlights. It’s going to have a massive positive impact on Wildcat Nation.”

VNN and Scorebird bring statewide live scores to Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala., April 2, 2019 /via PRNewswire/ — The reality of finding live, in-the-moment coverage of high school sports has never been an easy task, short of traveling to the stadium on game day. Local media, fan-submitted scoring apps, and social networking has made following top matchups easier in recent years, but all continue to rely on having someone physically at the game. For the majority of fans, family, and alumni across the nation, not being there in person means missing out. However, through a unique partnership of technology providers VNN and Scorebird, Alabama has now become the first state in the country to empower schools statewide to broadcast live game scores online.
The collaboration, being rolled out this Spring, transmits scores, clock data and any information displayed through scoreboard controllers via a Scorebird device to a school’s official athletics website and social media channels provided by VNN throughout the season, live. Scorebird’s role as the preferred method of reporting final game scores to Alabama’s state governing body means that every school in the state already has the technology needed to broadcast, creating major exposure opportunities for schools who may not have the resources to do it themselves.
“Not only will Panther Nation love the ability to watch the live score feed on our site when they are unable to attend, we have alumni, family members, and others who no longer live in town that will be thrilled to follow along with the games from their living room,” said Director of Athletics for Pelham City Schools Kim Kiel, the first school in the state to take scores live on pelhamhighathletics.com. “As an Athletic Director, making that kind of connection possible with our program over the long-term is invaluable.”
“We’re excited about the enormous impact this can have in local communities, from big to small,” added VNN’s Romy Glazer. “Bringing people together around their teams, and ensuring athletic departments have the tools to make that happen is what we’re all about at VNN.”
